What did you need to change on bluetooth. Were you the Dell Control Point Stuff

Have you had any joy with the security stuff - there don't appear to be appropriate drivers on the MY Dell driver CD and the broad-comm ones on Dell's website haven't played well yet. Everything else is working. I had to use Intel's drivers for my Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN before that would work

I got mine on Wednesday, but have not had time to reload it with W2K8 and Hyper-V yet! It would be interesting to take a look at performance with the SSDs. Please share your experiences when you have time.

I just received mine with the QX9300, 8GB of RAM and dual 64GB SSD's in RAID 0 among other goodies. There are quite a few issues with the stability of the Dell drivers but I'm sure they will be worked out over time. I did have to modify the inf’s for the Bluetooth drivers to get them to load properly in 2008 but otherwise the Vista x64 drivers install fine. Going to fire up some VM’s and will let you know how it goes.

Maurice - Unfortunately, I do not know of any Hyper-V simulator available for you to train on. I think it is a good concept, but unfortunately, not something in our scope of work.

The only thing I can suggest is to get yourself an x64 bit laptop, if you are close to a refresh cycle, and configure it to dual-boot with W2K8 so that you can have a platform to train on. That is what I did with my Dell Lattitude D830.

As I prepare for the [70-652] exam I find that I will probably have to build a x64bit machine in order to practice configurations, etc. Although I am consulting the Mitch Tulloch Virtualization Solutions and other printed material I am dissapointed that I could find no Hyper V 'simulator' available. I write to inquire if there is any likelihood of a virtual lab being created in the near future. I would rather spend the time reading/practicing than building a box. It is my hope that this correspondence reaches someone who might be able to act on this or at least give the idea the benefit of a serious consideration. Much thanks for your attention as I await a reply.

It is normal that you cannot ping the host from the guest if the host has the Windows firewall enabled, unless you have created an exception for it.

Based on your response, you configured a virtual network that is bound to the physical network adapter, and then connected the guest VM to it. How did you configure the guest VM IP settings? Is the guest VM getting an address via DHCP?

From what you describe, it makes me think that either you are lacking a gateway setting on the guest VM, or DNS servers are not configured properly.

It's hard to say more without additional details of the exact configuration of your guest VM networking, and whether you have used tracert or other utilities to narrow down the problem.

My Virtual Server is running just fineon my host Vista 64 Ultimate. But it appears I cannot access the Internet from my guest OS (Windows Server 2003).

When the firewall is enabled on Vista, I cannot even ping the host from the guest (but I can ping the guest from the host!).

When the firewall is disabled on Vista, I can ping the host from the guest, but that's all. I cannot ping or access anything else.

Any idea?

I have Vista Home is there away to install VS 2005 on it. Install fails and error message is does not support your verison of Vista. Help!
